Announcing the New PRVCHS Membership Program & Revitalization of the Descendants Association

The Pennsylvania Reserve Volunteer Corps Historical Society (PRVCHS) is pleased to announce the launch of a new Society-wide membership program, alongside a comprehensive revitalization of our long-standing Descendants Association.

These updates reflect the Societyโ€™s continued growth, expanding research efforts, and renewed commitment to preserving the historic memory of the Pennsylvania Reserves through scholarship, public education, and tangible preservation work.

A Unified Membership Structure

The new PRVCHS membership program establishes a clear, sustainable framework that welcomes supporters at multiple levels, whether their connection is genealogical, scholarly, or rooted in a shared commitment to historic preservation.

Membership directly supports:

  • Original historical research and archival work
  • Cemetery, monument, and headstone preservation initiatives
  • Educational programs, exhibits, and public lectures
  • Publication of new scholarship focused on the Pennsylvania Reserves

Members receive exclusive benefits, early access to Society programs, and regular updates on PRVCHS projects and initiatives.

The Revamped Descendants Association

The Descendants Association has been formally restructured and integrated into the Societyโ€™s broader membership framework.

This revitalized program is designed specifically for verified descendants of soldiers who served in the Pennsylvania Reserve Volunteer Corps, offering:

  • Formal recognition of genealogical connection
  • Inclusion in Society publications and records
  • Opportunities to participate in descendant-focused initiatives and commemorations
  • Access to exclusive descendant resources and programming

The updated Descendants Association ensures consistent standards, improved recordkeeping, and long-term sustainability while honoring the families connected to the Pennsylvania Reserves.

Introducing a New Scholarly Journal

As part of this membership initiative, PRVCHS is proud to announce its first journal publication:

Three Years of the War: A Journal of the Pennsylvania Reserves

Scheduled to go to print and ship to Society members in June 2026, the journal will feature:

  • Original research articles focused on the Pennsylvania Reserves
  • Transcriptions and analysis of primary source materials
  • Essays on regimental history, battlefield service, and individual soldiers
  • Updates on Society projects and initiatives
  • Recognition of members of the Descendants Association

This publication represents a major step forward in the Societyโ€™s mission to support serious scholarship while making new research accessible to members and the public.

Looking Ahead

These initiatives mark an important new chapter for PRVCHS, one that strengthens our foundation, expands participation, and ensures the Societyโ€™s work continues with clarity, integrity, and purpose.

Additional details on membership levels, benefits, and enrollment are available throughout the site.

We invite you to join us as we continue preserving the historic memory of the Pennsylvania Reserves.
